Doe Lowinger is an artist and writer who grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Doe was raised among her seven siblings in a Hasidic Jewish community, where she was expected to have an arranged marriage. Doe broke away from her traditional upbringing at age eighteen to pursue a life of freedom and creativity. When she was younger, Doe spent hours writing short fictional stories, and three of her pieces were published in a worldwide magazine at age fifteen. Upon embarking on her own path, she leaned on drawing as a daily practice to process the major life transition and to find her voice. Doe’s art tells stories of liberation, yearning, and breaking free. She mostly creates works on paper using colored pencils and other mixed media. Now based in Philadelphia, her work has been displayed in several local galleries and cafes around the city.
In summer of 2025, Doe was one of the selected artists at the Paleohori Artist Residency in Lefkada, Greece, where she spent the month of the July crafting new work and presented it to the other residents. She had previously attended Swift Waters Artist Residency in Lackawaxen, PA where she created multiple original pieces and worked on new concepts.
Doe recently published her first children’s book, Beyond The Mountain, creating both the story and illustrations. It will soon be available to purchase on her website.
